Welcome to Mardi Gras Havana. French pirates pillaged Havana in 1526 and 1555. The French influence in Eastern Cuba came from sugar plantation owners who moved to Cuba from Haiti in 1791 as well as the historical connection between New Orleans and Cuba. Spanish explorers were in Louisiana before France claimed Louisiana. Spain also ruled Louisiana and Havana between 1763 and 1800. Many cities and countries around the World celebrate Mardi Gras, its excesses and indulgences, prior to Lent.
We are interested in bringing these festivities to Varadero again and look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to email us!
